The scarcest and most local of the Eriocrania species in the British Isles.
New for Norfolk at Wayland Wood in May 2018 when leaf mines were found on both Hornbeam and Hazel. (J. Emerson, 19/05/18)
New for VC27 in 2019 at Ashwellthorpe (G. Moates, 25/05/19)
Leaf-mine: April - May - The larva feeds on Hazel (Corylus) or Hornbeam (Carpinus), creating blotch mines.
No other British species feeds on the same foodplants, so identification of mines is straightforward.
